Main Street, Abernethy, about 1903

The view shows Main Street, Abernethy, looking east, with a horse and cart in the distance.

Most of the historic centre of the village dates from the 18th and 19th centuries. The main road which originally followed a torturous way through the main street eventually began to take a short cut through the northern part of the village, known as Back Dykes, instead.
