Model of St John's-wort flower by Brendel of Berlin.

This model of a flower of St John's-wort was made in the early 20th century by R Brendel & Co of Berlin, Germany. The models were made for the teaching of botany (plant science) and display in natural history museums.It is made of wood, papier mache and wire. The Perthshire Natural History Museum paid ten shillings for the model when it was purchased from Brendel's in 1906. It shows in exact detail the flower of St Johns Wort but about ten times larger than in real life
